Visiting and International Students

For the 2012-2013 Academic year, Ohio State will begin accepting applications March 1st of 2012. We will begin processing received applications April 2, 2012. Notification of an accepted elective will not be sent until after May 1st, 2012.

Osteopathic Medical Students in good standing who are pursing a D.O. degree from a school accredited by the Education Department of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).  Osteopathic students whose schools are participating in VSAS must submit their applications through VSAS.

International students can apply through the Office of Global Health Education website. Rotations are limited to students from affiliated institutions.

US/Canada Visiting Students

The Ohio State University College of Medicine accepts applications for electives through the Visiting Student Application Service (VSAS) offered by the American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC).

At least 8 WEEKS PRIOR to the start of the rotation submit your application via VSAS.

Applications will be processed in a timely manner beginning April 2, 2012 and notifications will be sent beginning May 1, 2012..

Within 1 WEEK from the date your acceptance notification is sent, the following additional items must be received (further instructions included in acceptance email): *Be advised: if this information is not sent in a timely manner, it may jeopardize your rotation slot.

  • Acceptance of offered rotation
  • OSU Administrative Processing Fee of $75
  • Self-Disclosure Form
  • SSN and DOB for Background check *

At least 4 WEEKS PRIOR to the start of the rotation, the following items must be received (further instructions included in acceptance email):

  • ACLS Card (copy or proof that the student has completed training)
  • OSU HIPAA Assessment
  • Toxicology Screen 10 Panel (have results faxed to us at 614-292-0745)
    • THC
    • Cocaine and Metabolites
    • Amphetamine/Methamphetamine
    • Benzodiazpines
    • Opiates
    • Methadone
    • Methaqualone
    • PCP
    • Propoxyphene
    • Barbiturates
