In proposals and through the life of a grant or contract, Ohio State tells sponsors how a scope of work will be accomplished, including who will work on the project. Sponsors use this information to decide if the personnel have the appropriate experience and skills to complete the project as proposed, and they expect that they will be informed if there are changes made to that personnel plan.
Learn more about personnel appointments to sponsored research projects and the policies governing those appointments from the proposal stage through project close-out.
For those individuals with access to the PI Portal, the personnel tab for projects is an important tool for tracking appointments. The Office of Sponsored Programs Guide to the PI Portal Personnel Tab explains the information provided and is vital to fully understanding the page.
The transition from a quarter system to a semester system has generated a number of questions regarding faculty appointments and pay in summer and fall 2012. The Semester Conversion Coordinating Committee has released a list of questions and answers about these issues. The Office of the CIO published explanations of the impact on 9-month faculty appointed to sponsored projects, including information about overlapping September payments, quarter-off-duty payments, and encumbrances in September. The Semester Conversion website is the central repository for information about the transition.
