How much does $1000 in scholarship funding save a medical student?

$1000
$750
$580
$1590

The answer is $1590. It is often the case that students can not start paying on their student loans until after they graduate. Therefore the answer must me greater than $1000 as interest would accrue on the loan funding during their schooling as well as possibly during their residency program. We assumed that the student borrowed the loan funding at today Stafford loan interest rates and did not start paying on them until after their residency program was finished.
