The Ohio State University College of Medicine Postbaccalaureate Program (PBP) is a five-quarter program aimed at developing and enriching the academic knowledge base and skills of students prior to their entrance into medical school. The program allows students to become more competitive and successful in the medical school environment. Increasing the number of students underrepresented in medicine (URM) and/or students from economically and/or educationally disadvantaged backgrounds who graduate from medical school is a major goal of the PBP.
The College of Medicine offers conditional acceptances to medical school for the following year to a maximum of fifteen students based upon successful completion of all components of the program. Students may receive University tuition waivers while attending the PBP.
Students who wish to be considered for the Postbaccaluareate Program will need:

The Postbaccalaureate Program begins in September with a two-week science review and testing in biology, chemistry, mathematics, and physics to determine the appropriate level of science courses each student should take during the academic year. Students are also provided with assessment and instruction in reading, writing, learning strategies and problem solving.
Courses taken during the academic year (autumn, winter and spring quarters) include biochemistry, histology, genetics, physiology, medical terminology, medical ethics, pharmacology and/or microbiology. Facilitated review sessions are provided for the most challenging courses. Community service projects, a mentoring program, and professional development sessions are integral components of the Postbaccalaureate Program.
The final six-week summer component (Pre-Entry Program) consists of instruction in human gross anatomy, cross-sectional anatomy, biochemistry, neuroanatomy, and physiology. Conditional acceptance is awarded following the successful completion of the Pre-Entry Program.
Deadline: AMCAS completed by November 1. Early applications are encouraged.
