  The College of Medicine at The Ohio State University welcomed 211 new medical students on August 11, 2008.  The White Coat Ceremony was the first official event inducting the students into the study of the practice of medicine.  During the convocation, outstanding teaching awards and preclinical professor of the year faculty were honored.
Preclinical Professor of the Year honored was Douglas Danforth, Ph.D in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology..

Linda C. Stone, M.D., Associate Dean for Student Affairs was this year's guest speaker.  Presentation of the white coats was made by D. Joanne Lynn, M.D. Professor of the Year 2007 (Dept. of Neurology) and Douglas Knutson, M.D. 2008 Professor of the Year (Dept. of Family Medicine).

This year's Outstanding Teaching Awards went to:  Independent Study Program - Mary Beth Fontana, M.D., Department of Internal Medicine; Integrated Pathway - Douglas Danforth, Ph.D., Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology; Patient Centered Medicine - Parita Patel, M.D., Department of Family Medicine; and Physician Development - Allison Macerollo, M.D., Department of Family Medicine.
