The College of Medicine at The Ohio State University welcomed 210 new
medical students on August 8, 2007. The White Coat Ceremony was the
first official event inducting the students into the study of the
practice of medicine. During the convocation, outstanding teaching
awards and preclinical professor of the year faculty were honored. |
Preclinical Professors of the Year honored were: D. Joanne Lynn, M.D.,
Department of Neurology and John M. Stang, M.D., Department of Medicine.
Linda
C. Stone, M.D., Associate Dean for Student Affairs was this year's
guest speaker. Presentation of the white coats was made by Mary Beth
Fontana, M.D. Professor of the Year 2005 and Richard H. Fertel, Ph.D.
Department of Pharmacology and the 2006 Professor of the Year. |

This year's Outstanding Teaching Awards went to: Independent Study Program - Mary Beth Fontana, M.D., Department of Internal Medicine; Integrated Pathway - D. Joanne Lynn, M.D., Department of Neurology; Patient Centered Medicine - Tammy Gutierrez, M.D., Department of Family Medicine; and Physician Development - Douglas J. Knutson, M.D., Department of Family Medicine.
